It dawned on me last week when a friend came over to visit. I was in the living room scrolling through my media player looking for a movie to watch. He asked me how I was able to access so many movie tittles without having a cable box hooked up. I explained to him what I am about to share with the readers of this article.

For the last 5 years I have been enjoying my home DVD collection the way it should have been intended for. I was tired of making coasters from scratched disc my kids played with like Frisbees. I soon begin making digital backups onto my external hard drive for the reason of preserving them.I learned of digital media players a few years back when i was selling mp4 players at the flea market. I bought one for myself which came with all the attachments, power supply and remote control. The media player I purchased was capable of 1080p playback of movies onto my flat screen television. The media player came with usb port for external storage and a HDMI port for HD playback.

The other features included online access through wired or wireless connection. I can surf my favorite websites also from my TV and view movies on NetFlix with a paid account. This didn't stop there, I was also able to stream music through my DNLA enabled smart phone device directly through my television's speakers. If that wasn't enough the media box also feature online games i could play as well. The media player cost about $50 dollars, and can be purchased online or at most local electronic stores.
